Florence and Daniel Guerlain have dedicated much of their lives to art. They have been building a large art collection with works by contemporary artists since the 1990s. In 2013, the couple donated 1,200 drawings to the Centre Pompidou art museum in Paris.

The Nordic Watercolour Museum has been given the privilege of choosing pieces from this unique trove of art. The selection
reflects the Guerlains’ unconditional approach to collecting: there is no theme here. On the contrary, the collection includes a multitude of moods, styles, expressions and techniques. The artists live and work in different corners of the world. World-famous names are combined with lesser known artists. Poetic strokes run parallel to political ones, while acute depictions of reality neighbour pure fantasy.

The exhibition presents a cross-section of contemporary art on paper and is produced in collaboration with Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre de Création Industrielle – Centre Pompidou in Paris.

Participating Artists: Rina Banerjee, Marc Bauer, Ulla von Brandenburg, Silvia Bächli, Erik Dietman, Mark Dion, Marlene Dumas, Marcel Dzama, Vidya Gastaldon, Huang Yong Ping, Leiko Ikemura, Frédérique Loutz, Thomas Müller, Jockum Nordström, Joyce Pensato, Pavel Pepperstein, Javier Pérez, Gerhard Richter, Yvan Salomone, Anne-Marie Schneider, José María Sicilia, Kiki Smith, Nancy Spero, Gert & Uwe Tobias, Jean-Luc Verna, Amelie von Wulffen, Troels Wörsel
